Resumed Session

The International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB) emphasized that all goals, targets, and indicators of the Post-2020 global biodiversity framework must uphold the minimum standards as agreed in the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. The IIFB also calls for enhancing the relational values between peoples and nature and that the implementation of the framework be guided by the human rights-based approach and ensure the protection of defenders of environmental rights and indigenous peoples rights during the resumed sessions of SBSTTA 24, SBI 3 and WG2020-3 held from 13 to 29 March 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Informal Virtual Sessions

The International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB) is concerned that only a few Parties mention the participation of indigenous peoples and local communities in the development and implementation of national strategies on biodiversity. Further, they are concerned that Parties have not used the traditional knowledge indicators during the informal virtual session of the third meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI 3) held from 8 to 12 and 14 March 2021.
