Indigenous Farmers Association of Guinaang, Pasil, Inc. (IFAGPI)

Indigenous Farmers Association of Guinaang, Pasil, Inc. (IFAGPI) is one of the community-based indigenous peoples organizations (IPOs) among the Guinaang Tribe of Pasil, Kalinga. IFAGPI was organized with the aim of defending the ancestral domain against the entry of destructive development projects and safeguarding the welfare of indigenous farmers of Guinaang tribe. Specifically, IFAGPI has the following goals :

  1. Protect and defend the ancestral domain against extractive industries and projects that may harm their lands and territories;
  2. Strengthening customary governance and other indigenous knowledge systems in resource management;
  3. Plan and implement community development projects that promote the general welfare of the farmers;  and
  4. Build capacities of the people to do research for evidence-based planning and enable them to assist the tribe in crafting its strategic and periodic plans. 

IFAGPI  was already working with some NGO’s when Tebtebba  started its work in their  ancestral domain in  2015.
